State of Massachusetts: USAThe State of Massachusetts’ “Uniform State Plumbing Code” states that all establishments served by a municipal sanitary sewer and that can seat 20 patrons or more should incorporate an FWD, this is part of a state-wide measure to save space in landfills and reduce CO2 emissions. Only businesses who dispose of one tonne (1000kg) or more of food waste per week must arrange other means of disposal such as collection or on site composting. To put this into context, the average UK household food waste amounts to 6.75kg per week according to Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP). |
